The Sad Salad Club is a blog that uncovers novel art and contemporary design, and also a sourcebook that specifically focuses on collecting objects created by independent makers. I wish art and design could be the daily nutrients that bring us joyful needs.
The founder Didi NG Wing Yin(HK/FI) is an artist-designer based in Helsinki from Hong Kong. Upon completing a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2012, he worked in the furniture- and interior design industry. He is now attending the MA in Interior Architecture at Aalto University, Finland, where his practice has shifted toward woodworking in contemporary design and crafts. In his practice, Didi seeks to expand perspectives on wood crafting and highlight wood's natural materiality through experimental surface treatments and hand-carving techniques. Over the past years, his dedication to wood crafting has resulted in small- and large-scale works in a space between sculpture, installation, and furniture.
